It's probably viewed as progressive in some ways since they use her correct name and pronouns and have a good relationship with her beyond those comments, but really that's not enough. basically a bunch of trans women stereotypes which I think was pretty low of the author. They haven't directly said she was trans but they keep hinting at her low voice, big hands, being tall, having her be extra sexual and over-the-top. It seems like Taichi might be on the aro and/or ace spectrums and I wish that was explored more in depth too.Īlso, I don't like how they threw in a trans woman for shock value or something (volume 3 and/or 4). it sounded like the two main characters weren't going to be love interests but then the editor said they needed to be? so it kind of felt forced and that maybe there wasn't much of a plan.
